RAW AND REBELLIOUS: HAT PHOTOSHOOTS
This one came together fast. I was headed to Woodward Copper with a group of influencer friends, and we decided to shoot something quick and gritty to promote a new Raw and Rebellious hat drop. Nothing overly planned — just a good crew, good energy, and a camera.
I used a Pocket Dispo lens, which attaches to your full-frame camera and gives that disposable, flash-heavy look. The goal was to go for a grungier feel — think raw flash, close-up sunglasses, attitude. The only issue? My on-camera flash wasn’t high enough, so in one of the shots you’ll see this big shadow over the shoulder of the girl in the blue hat. That’s the lens hood sneaking into the frame. Wish I could go back and fix that, but hey — lesson learned.
What’s wild is that one of the girls was already wearing a camo hoodie, which ended up matching the camo hat we were shooting. Perfect accident. We swapped in a blue Rebellious Ski Club hoodie too and took some more shots.
This was actually the first of two photo shoots. The second round came after Sarah wanted something a little more specific — more of that top-down sunglasses vibe. So we ran it back and made sure we matched what she was picturing.
If I could change one thing, it’d be the lighting setup. I’ve learned that for this style — harsh flash, lo-fi texture — you really do need the right gear. But even with the imperfections, these shoots were fun, fast, and super on-brand for Raw and Rebellious
